PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) freshmen sensation Danai Lendor has earned a berth in the 2008 USA Track and Field junior national championship and will compete on June 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio. The meet will take place at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University. Lendor qualified in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.40, shattering the minimum qualifying time of 103.14. Her time gave her a third place finish at the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Regional Championships held later this month in Tallahassee, Fla. on the campus of Florida State University. "It is great for our program to have a student-athlete represented at the U.S. Junior Championships," said head coach Ernest Barrett. "These are the best young runners in the country and we are proud that UMES is represented and represented well with such a quality young lady like Danai." Lendor will kick off the event on Friday, June 20th with the first round of the hurdles at 5:30 p.m. with the finals following at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday. Visit www.usatf.org for more information. |
