PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will be holding a Winter High School Baseball Showcase for baseball players ages 13-18 on December 8, 9, 15 and 16. The instructional showcase will provide all participants the opportunity to display their talents in front of different college coaches and receive advice on how to improve their game in all aspects. The camp is four days in length running on consecutive weekends, December 8-9 and 15-16. The camp will include training recommendations according to specific needs and costs only $350.00 for eight sessions or $225.00 for four sessions. Sessions are divided into pitchers and catchers and infield and outfielders. Pitchers and catchers will work each day from 9:00 a.m. until noon and the fielders will work from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. each of the four days. Cost includes work on all four days for each session for $225.00 or work during all eight sessions for the $350.00 price. Each session will be attended by coaches from several area colleges. Payments received by November 26 can be discounted by $25.00. For more information, call UMES Assistant Coach Brandon McCabe at 410-651-8908 or e-mail him at bhmccabe@umes.edu. Campers should provide their own baseball gear and lunch if staying for both sessions. Out of area participants can stay locally at the Comfort Inn in Salisbury, Md. and ask for the UMES athletic rate. "Showcases are a great way to work on your game," said UMES Head Coach William Gardner. "I would encourage all players who want to improve or play at the next level to attend a Showcase and ours offers that chance right here on the Eastern Shore."
