         <description><![CDATA[The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Hawks will face the Florida A&M Rattlers Wednesday in the opening round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament at the RBC Center.<P>UMES (4-27, 2-14 MEAC) dropped their sixth straight to end the regular season with a 67-52 decision against Delaware State University on Thursday. Marc Davis, an All-MEAC Rookie Team Selection, led the Hawks with 13 points. BJ Nimocks and Ed Tyson, an All-MEAC Second Team Member, finished with 11 points apiece. Nimocks also grabbed six rebounds before leaving midway through the second half with a broken nose. Omar Akram added eight points and a career-high 12 rebounds off the bench.<P>FAMU (14-16, 9-7 MEAC), the defending MEAC Tournament Champions, enters the matchup on a five game winning streak after defeating Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, 69-50. The Rattlers offensive attack is led by Leslie Robinson who is averaging 15 points per game on the season, while Lamar Twitty is adding 12.8 points per game. Akini Akini is tops on the team with 6.2 rebounds per game.<P>The Rattlers swept the season series against UMES with the first win coming back on January 26, 72-62. They picked up another victory over the Hawks on February 23, 62-60. Coincidentally, both contests were on homecoming night for each team.<P>FAMU was led by Robinson with 16.5 points per game. Larry Jackson, an All-MEAC Rookie Team Selection, added 16 points per game, while Twitty chipped in with 11 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.<P> Tyson and Davis led UMES in scoring for both contests with 22 and 14.5 points per game. UMES failed to put a single player in double figures for the first time this season as Casey Morton and Tiffany Reid finished with nine points each. April McBride added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds, while seniors Kristi Veltkamp and Brittany Adkins had seven and four points, respectively.With a win UMES would finish third in the MEAC regular season standings and a third seed in the conference tournament.<P>DSU (16-13, 11-4 MEAC) enters their final game riding a three game winning streak after defeating Morgan State on Saturday, 66-49. The Hornets lost earlier this season to UMES, 61-55. They are led by Raquel Collier and Katreem Palmer with 12.6 and 10.9 points per game, respectively. The two were held to only six points combined in the first meeting. Instead, DSU was led by Keyhana Wakefield with 14 points off the bench.<P>Morton led the Lady Hawks with a game-high 17 points in the first win over DSU, while McBride added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. With the victory UMES matched a school record for wins in a season. Four players finished in double digit scoring as April McBride led all scorers with 14 points. Tiffany Reid and Casey Morton finished with 12 points apiece, while Parker added 10 points.With the win UMES remained in a three-way tie with Morgan State and Delaware State for third place in the MEAC.<P>CSU (17-11, 11-3 MEAC) enters the game as winners of their last six after defeating Howard 101-57 on Monday. The Eagles have not lost since UMES defeated them at home 69-62 on February 4. They are led by Shalamar Oakley and Rashida Suber with 17.9 and 17.4 points per game respectively. The two combined for 42 points in the first meeting.<P>McBride and Morton led the Lady Hawks with 18 points each in the first win. McBride also recorded a game-high 16 rebounds. April McBride finished with her 10th double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while teammate Chena Parker added the first of her career, finishing with 18 points and a personal best 13 rebounds.With the win UMES remained in a three-way tie with Morgan State and Delaware State for third place in the MEAC.<P>B-CU (4-21, 1-12 MEAC) enters the game on a four game skid after dropping their last contest to Delaware State on Monday, 55-37. The Wildcats are led by Natasha Ferguson with 10.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while Demetria Frank is adding 10.2 points per game. Frank and Ferguson finished with 14 and seven points in the first meeting respectively.<P>UMES won the first game against B-CU on the road, 77-51. Jelila Abdul-Bassit finished with a career-high 14 points in the game. Omar Akram provided a spark off the bench as he set career-highs with seven points and six rebounds in 15 minutes of action that all came in the second half.<P>B-CU (9-16, 5-6 MEAC) comes in on a three game skid after losing to Delaware State on Saturday, 49-44. The Wildcats offensive attack is led by John Holmes, a local product, with 13 points and six rebounds per game. Holmes posted a double-double of 13 points and 18 boards in the first meeting this season.<P>UMES dropped the first game this season to B-CU on the road, 63-54. Tyson led all scorers with 18 points.
